School has begun! Tay's off to the 2nd grade and Jackson has started kindergarten.
Mom: How was your first day of school Taylor?Taylor: My teacher was so mean, it was just the first day and we already started learning stuff!
Mom: Jackson, how was your first day of school? Did you like it? Do you like school?
(long pause)
Jackson: (with a serious face) I have one thing to say..... Can I come again tomorrow?
The minute Jackson came in the door, he stripped down to his favorite, most comfortable outfit that he has been sporting all summer.....
For a new "First Day of School" tradition (thanks Lisa) we went to a new restaurant to celebrate all of the new happenings of the day. I don't know how happy the kids were about eating Thai food, but the parents and grandparents were in heaven. After dinner, they were spoiled with some Golden Spoon.
The new school year always gets me excited to re-commit myself:
To be a better wife, to be a better mom, to be more organized, to stop worrying about the silly things that don't matter, have meaningful conversations with my husband and children, be a better friend, to make memories, to exercise regularly, feed my family quality food, enjoy each day.
Like my dad always says,
"Today is the first day of the rest of your life."
It's always nice to start with a clean slate, just like the feeling on the first day of school.
